Whey Protein Alternative

Post  Thor on Thu Mar 03, 2011 1:10 pm

Alright, Whey isn't technically paleo friendly, but neither is starving... so.
I'm wondering what you guys have come across as far as Paleo friendly protein options for post workout or a quick fix before a 6am session... I know robb wolf has talked about beef based protein powders ($$$) and stuff like that, but... yeah.

I'm thinking my best bet is to just find a good pure organic lactose free unsweetened whey protein powder.

Let me know what you guys think/if you've found any good alternatives!

cheers

Thor, I use Progressive harmonized protein. The protein is derived from the milk of organically farmed cattle raised without the use of steriods, antibiotics or hormones. They are also grass fed. Whey isnt technicaly paleo but it works for us right now, and atleast its the best quality one. Way better then your little protein drink lastnight !haha!

Performance is more important than wether or not you had a whey shake. Your diet is 95% Paleo that is awesome... different goals for everyone. Those who aren't training 2x a days and aren't competing can try and keep the whey out of their diet. High Performance crew you need to optimize recovery, A.S.A.P so an easily absorbed quality protein source that is convenient is the way to go. (Hard to eat salmon at 6:30 am )
Also depending on the workout, try training in a fasted state, have a stiff americano before, also can sip on your BCAA's during strength training.

that's the answer i like Very Happy
but I'll definitely try to find a cleaner whey protein than the crappy prepackaged costco stuff.

I'll also give the fasted training ago but I'm going to apologize to the 7am class in advance because I'll probably be pretty cranky affraid just kidding.

thanks for the answers guys!
