Some General Tips to help...

Post  Thor on Fri Mar 04, 2011 4:50 pm

Here's a couple things I use to help keep everything in line... including sleep etc.
I'd love to hear any other tips people use!

One of my biggest is NO screens after 10pm. Obviously the time for this can change for people, but it forces me to break my habit of checking my email or something online right before bed... because ADD kicks in and I end up spending an hour on my computer. Or you get distracted watching that tv show...

Studies have shown the glow from a screen confuses your body about what time of day it is, making it make harder to fall asleep after looking at one.

which leads to tip two...

cover those windows!!! sleep in the pitch black. no blinking computer lights, alarm clocks, or cracks in the windows. If you're ever driving down 16th just off cambie you'll know my apt as it looks like a crack house with tinfoil covering my bedroom windows... there are obviously classier ways to do this (blackout curtains/fabric etc) but tinfoil is just so much more affordable Wink just because you think it's dark enough, your body knows its not. Remember, we spent millions of years going to sleep in pitch black caves, your body knows the difference!

I know there are tons of websites out there that list of things like this but I'd much rather hear it from you guys and what actually works for you.

Good point about the screens Thor... here is a great resource to help with that. It bad lighting from the computer is reduced as the day rolls on. I got it from Robb Wolf's site
