I've seen in some journals mention of taking BCAAs, and upon looking them up on the old interwebs, they look like a good addition to my supplement menu, which currently consists of fish oil, l-glutamine, vitamin d, magnesium, and zinc (all food-state). Today I bought some BCAAs at Whole Foods. The bottle says take 2-4 tablets, twice daily. Is that right? Should I be loading up on this stuff? How much should I take and when?

Hi Anthony,

Yes I would recommend taking BCAA's for sure. Great for promoting muscle mass by inhibiting protein breakdown during exercise. Also helps to maintain muscle energy during workouts and supports muscle recovery.

I'm not sure what your training schedule is, are you training daily and following the Workouts of the day or on a strength program? this is something you might want to talk to Brad about. I use Ultimate Nutrition BCAA powder (got it on 4th/ Burrard (supplement store) sorry forget the name, and mix 10g/15g (give or take 5g depending on the volume of work)in a whey protein shake post workout daily, but if i train double days I sip on it during my strength program.

How many grams of BCAA are in one tablet ? I would say you probably should be taking 10g-15g post workout, but not sure your schedule.

Let me know
